CPS is located in the serene surroundings of the Tarai region on the foot hills of the Himalayas in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand. The city of Rudrapur was founded by King Rudra (r. 1565-1597), a king of the Chand Dynasty, which ruled over the Kumaon Kingdom in the 16th century.

CPS is situated in the midst of one of the posh colonies of the town. The location of the school presents a magnificent calm and ideal ambience for learning.

BUILDING

The Main Building of the school is a fascinating three storey building. All rooms are big, spacious and well ventilated. The classrooms are fitted with CCTVs for closely monitoring the teaching/ learning process.

The beautiful Nursery Wing building with its welcome appeal is a feast for the eyes. The aesthetically and beautifully built colourful building not only attracts the eyes of the tiny tots but also provides a homely and fun-filled learning atmosphere. The Nursery Wing has a separate playground, swings area, splash pool, toy room and above all large spacious beautiful classrooms. The building has a big hall which serves as the assembly area and also doubles up as a playing area in adverse weather conditions.

A separate building in the campus, christened Columbus’ Hostel, accommodates the boarding facilities. The hostel has three big dormitories with attached Locker Rooms for Senior Boys, Junior Boys & Girls respectively. The hostel also has big Kitchen & Dining Hall. The tasty food served in the mess is good enough to make one forget his mother’s recipe.

PLAYGROUND & SPORTS FACILITIES

The sprawling play ground is a hallmark of Columbus Public School. Students get opportunity not only to play but excel in various sports such as basketball, badminton, volleyball, cricket, kho-kho, kabaddi etc. Athletics is also given due importance.

Adding on to the magnificent sports infrastructure, the school also has a Sports Room offering opportunities for children to excel in indoor games such as chess, table-tennis, carrom etc. The Sports Room also has basic facilities of a gymnasium offering opportunity for young body-builders.

DIGITAL CLASSROOMS

The school has five special rooms spread over various wings of the building equipped with Digital Classroom facilities such as digital smart board, LCD projector, computer etc. The school has entered into a long term contract with a leading service provider of the country, M/s Next Education Pvt. Ltd. as a learning partner for providing necessary software and digital curriculum content for these digital classrooms. It provides an exhaustive repository of world class digital modules or lessons, (consisting of 2D and 3D animations, graphics, audio and video) on every subject, which the teacher can easily access and project in the classroom; that helps illuminate and explain abstract and difficult concepts with liquid clarity.These rooms are also equipped with Digital Response Systems for facilitating on-the-spot assessment. The school plans to extend this facility to many other rooms in a phased manner over the next few years.

AUDITORIUM

With a seating capacity of over 250, the auditorium plays a vital role in the daily routine of the school. It bears witness to the solemnity of the various cultural as well as entertainment events regularly organized here. Many inter-house competitions held here cater to the various talents of the students.

LIBRARY

The school has big library hall. The library has an assortment enriched with books of various tastes, work of great figures, English & Hindi literature, journals, magazines, comics, newspapers, career information brochures and a wide collection of reference books to tempt any avid reader.

MUSIC ROOM

The school has a music room equipped with many musical instruments. The children are trained to play harmonium, synthesiser, tabla, drums, dholki, flute etc. The budding artists of the school also use the music room to develop their talents under expert guidance of the music teacher.

ART & CRAFT ROOM

Art, craft and SUPW are a part of the formal curriculum. A spacious and well decorated Art and Craft Room is available to explore and polish the creative and artistic skills of the children. Beautiful items made from wastes like paper, straws, egg shells, ice-cream sticks, old cloth etc are exhibited here. The room proudly exhibits beautiful art works, paintings and collage work of the young talents of the school.
